How can I clean/wash fiberfill/polyester batting?

I'm re-upholstering my patio chair cushions. I want to reuse the ';stuffing';( fiberfill or polyester batting ,1'; thick) but after years of use even when I discarded the original fabric cover, they are full of dirt and dust. How can I clean/wash these without loosing shape. thickness and texture? How can I clean/wash fiberfill/polyester batting?
I don't know what size these cushions are. If you had the fabric cover you could have washed them in those. You need something to encase them in such as a pillow case or something like that and wash them that way. I don't know from the info you gave if they fit in the washer. If not you'll have to do it in a tub. I would air dry them on a warm day.If they are foam they will keep their shape.Polyester batting however I'm not so sure about. I would just replace the batting myself, but if you want to keep it, just give it a try and see how it turns out.Good luck!!

    1. Given how affordable and easily found fiberfill batting is, the easier and probably healthier thing to do is to buy some new batting and re-stuff the cushion.
