My son's soccer/duffle bag is 100% nylon. It's smelly and somewhat dirty. Can I put it in my clothes washer? Should I hose it down with some soap? It's embroidered with his name; I'd rather keep this one alive than buy a new one.How can I clean/wash my son's nylon soccer bag?
I have 4 sons that were year round soccer players from 7 years of age through college, (and even beyond - they still play). Their things stunk to high heavens until I discovered OdoBan. You buy it at Sam's and put it into the wash with your usual soap. Wash the bag and shin guards in the washer and air dry. You will be amazed at how it gets rid of the odor, and I tried everything! Hope this helps! How can I clean/wash my son's nylon soccer bag?
Put the bag in the washer that is already filled with warm water, soap and a capful (from the bleach bottle) of bleach.
Let it agitate for 5 minutes, stop the machine and let it soak for 10 minutes, then restart the machine and complete the wash, rinse, and spin cycles.
Take the bag out and let it air dry-preferably in the sun.
Send it to the dry cleaner, cheaper than a new bag...or no matter how you clean it if it still smells...put a little dish of vinegar inside, zip it up and the next day the nasty smell should be gone and then I'd remove the vinegar let the bag air out and voila!
You can wash it no problem in the washer. However wash it on cold or warm (not hot) inside out. Washing it inside out will help save the embroidery. Then just let it air dry. You do not want too much heat unless you are sure it is a nylon that will not get damaged in the heat..
Happy Washing. :)
Use a soft nail brush to scrub with liquid detergent and warm water. Rinse well. Dry in sun.
