How to clean/wash soft toys at home??

i have like a dozen plus soft/stuffed toys in all types n sizes that ve become really dirty,,,now plz dont say get them dry cleaned coz im def aware of that option but here its costs a bomb to get stuff drycleaned. So is there any method that u've tried of cleaning em at home without causing any damage or quality erosion??

thanks a lot in advance!!How to clean/wash soft toys at home??
When I need to wash stuffed toys I place a couple of them in a pillowcase and wash as I normally do with a regular load. (The pillow case is in case of a seam break the stuffings will be contained and not clog your machine.) I threw them in the dryer in the pillow case.

I have had one or two items that didn't come out as I expected. One due to age the other the material. They were still loved and cuddled. How to clean/wash soft toys at home??
I used to have smurfeet or whatever and what my mom did was take soapy water and hand wash it but now days you ca also spay something to get the mold smell out. but I still hand wash them I have maybe 2000 still left and I fell the best way is handwashing them give you old soft toys some TLC. I have a bunch of dog toys with squeakers, and they are all encrusted with dried saliva and bacteria from my dog chewing on them. If I follow ncsufan's advice and put them in the washer, will water get into the squeaker and ruin it? Please e-mail me the answer thanks! Report Abuse

I agree with the chosen answerer, but also would like to add- If you get a comb and carefully brush the teddy's fur when almost dry, and then use a hair-dryer on him, he'll be much fluffier than if you A) line-dry or B) dryer-dry Report Abuse

OK this may sound silly but my mom used to soak our stuffed animals in diluted washing detergent and then put them in an old pillow case and put them in the washer on the lowest setting. Then she hung them on the line to let them dry. Never had a problem with the toys getting ruined. My stuffed Garfield went though that many times!! lol
I always put them in the washing machine under the gentle cycle with just detergent. I put them in the dryer with a towel on Medium heat till dried well. If they look fine I keep them, if not, the are sent to the Land of the Misfit Toys...Sorry:/
Put them in the washer on cold water, the when they are done, hang them up and line dry them.
Cold water gentle cycle great soap like blanca nieves or tide with bleach alternative.
I put them in the gentle cycle in the washing machine
Take a cloth and dip the cloth to the watter little bit and u brushing by the cloth. This is easy method.Try it.
