My family uses small amounts of dish detergent and rinse it off with water.
Im interested to see how others wash fruits, and I believe cleaning fruits before consuming is a must. How do you clean/wash your grocery bought fruits?
Dish detergent's active ingredient is Benzene based (Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid). Therefore can be Carcinogenic, if not rinsed sufficiently.
Hospitals, Nursing Homes etc, use chlorine or oxygen based fruit %26amp; veggie wash. Therefore add a few drops of chlorine bleach (~50 ppm = 10ml of 1% Chlorine : 2Lt water) rinse water. How do you clean/wash your grocery bought fruits?
You can do that, using very little detergent, or there is a product for cleaning produce in the gorcery stores. Or, just plain water, and rinse well, use a paper towel to dry it off. Take care
I use a ';Fruit and Vegetable Wash'; spray from a company called Ecos. I have used Fit in the past, but this is much less expensive and works just as well.
I've wondered about just using some dish detergent. How does that work? Can you taste it or anything? Which kind do you use? Hope you don't mind my questions...
I wash them with cool water and dry them with a paper towel.
I dont like to use dish detergent, because it also leaves a residue on your fruits/veggies. While it is better than nothing, I think it affects the taste as well. I use a fruit/vegetable wash. I used to use Fit, but am having a hard time finding it recently. So now I just use the generic stuff.
I just use water I don't wanna eat soap or something.
