How do you clean / wash playpen material that won't detach?

I have an Eddie Bauer Pack n Play. The outside of it is starting to get dirty and I want to wash or clean it somehow. But the material won't come off so that I can just throw it in the washer. So how do I clean it without using the washing machine?How do you clean / wash playpen material that won't detach?

I used to take them out to the pool deck, scrub and hose them. Should be done in a very sunny day, leave it under the sunlight until it dries. I used to change it's position every now and then to speed the drying process.
